MY SWAPS ..MY FLAG..AND MY GARDEN AND JUST FOR YOU DANI IS MY YARD

Well..Lets see now if I can post in here without getting booted by Verizon (air card)
First I am way over due on posting a Thank you for the 2 swaps I received in May. This is the hand stitched Candle Wrap from Kendra Bruno and she even sent me the topper. They look awesome in my kitchen and I Love Love Love them. A big thank you to Kendra for such an awesome Candle wrap and the awesome topper that was so special of her to include in my package...They look really nice on a little table I have in my Chicken decorated kitchen
I was also in a textile swap and Allison from Sew many Girls got my name and she did a great job on knowing exactly what I would like. She made me this little doll and the Mat under the bowl. I display the doll standing up in the back of the bowl on an end table
She also sent me this cute Chicken fabric (because my Kitchen is mostly Chickens and Roosters with a few Apple items thrown in. And she made the 2 cute little pin cushions that look like a Chicken
This is a towel with a boarder of fabric with Moose and it fits perfect with some of the towel folded under on the back of my toilet. It looks cute there with the basket of little Moose sitting on it. She also sent me the Moose ditty bag with cinnamon sticks and I have it hanging on the hinge on the side of the medicine cabinet
And this is a really cute stitchery she made and I have it hanging on a wall with some other prim things. I Love everything but I think my favorite things are the doll and quilted mat and this stitchery. Thank you so much Allison

This is the beautiful wood Flag I won in Firecracker Kids give away in her blog.  I was so excited when she told me I won because Billy had just dug this  Flower bed for me and made me the trellis from grapevine that he pulled down wound around trees in the woods. I told him I wanted to put some kind of a Flag in front of the trellis but not a real Flag. I saw some Flag wind chimes and was thinking about buying them and boy am I ever glad I didn't. I was just telling Fred about how I always enter contests and give away's  but almost never win and when I came back in the house and checked my computer there was the email saying I won. We were going to buy some 1 by 2's to hold it up since it was to heavy to hang on to the vine trellis (anything would have been to heavy) and then Billy and I went out in the woods and found 2 nice long skinny tree trunks and he cut them down and I really think they look better than a piece of wood. I did spray a sealer on it so I could hang it outside and then bought a White Clematis vine and planted in front of the trellis. Billy liked the purple one but then we decided that a white one would look better with the flag. If I am lucky enough to keep it alive we will train it to go around the trellis and not in front of the Flag. Thank you soooo much Carol and I am sure you know how much I love my Flag. Dani from Eagles Wings mentioned how beautiful the trees were here so I walked around the yard and out in the woods to take some pictures of our yard and surroundings to share with all of you
This is a Pine tree in our yard that is mostly dead and nothing grows under it..Just loose dirt. We decided not to cut it down since the birds Love it and my pups love running around it. I put some flagstone close around the tree and then put rocks all around in a circle. My next job on the list is to find some kind of rocks (like garden rocks) and fill it in and Dogs can still run around in there. I don't want to use mulch because it draws bugs (ticks) and our one dog likes to chew it and I think they would just enjoy digging holes in it. Pea gravel is to small and afraid they might try to chew or eat a piece and choke on it. Now on to the pictures I took on my walk around the yard
This was taken near the end of my driveway and the little garage you see is just used to store the mower and other yard items
This was taken standing in front yard and facing East..yes..that is corn...it is everywhere here and I hope this drought doesn't ruin it
This is facing NE across the road where our LL lives..and more corn
This was taken facing west when I was standing between  back of the house and garage
In front of the house facing North..The house you see way out there is Freds son's house across the road from him
This is facing NW and they will be putting a fence up there and will put some cattle out there (Maggie should Love that..she can just look out and see cows when she is outside)
Facing SE and the woods is back there
This is our yard standing out by the road. Looks a little different now that Billy has added flower beds and Split rail fence
Now I will take you on a quick short walk through the woods. Billy cut this path with the mower last fall in the back of our yard
Billy LOVES to walk through the woods..I am not that crazy about it..To many ticks. The LL has a shooting range (Twin Oaks Shooting Clays) and guys pay to make the rounds to about 16 stations and shoot at clays..just for practice and fun. You can see one of the stations there on the right side
Another pile of old lumber that Billy will be pulling out as soon as the weeds die.. Poison Ivy and Poison Oak out there. Good thing he knows what it looks like cause I don't
We both like to go out in the woods to look for neat and unusual things and I saw these vines all wrapped around a tree..something we will go back for later (when not so hot out)
Another shooting station where Billy climbs up to put the clay discs (or whatever they call them) so when they pull the lever and they fly out the gun guys shoot at them. These are about 30 ft high
Can you see all the shot gun shells laying on the  ground? I think they should pick them up and put them in the buckets Fred has there for that.

I just thought this was a cool sign that someone nailed up in a tree
This is one of the drop off's going down to the pond..Not for me :)
But if you walk a little farther it is ground level..Great for fishing since it is stocked
This is just another angle of the pond. It is 24 ft deep in the middle and I think it should be called a LAKE..wouldn't you call it that
This is what the woods look like from our back yard. That's about it folks and if you want to see more just stop by for a cup of coffee or glass of ice tea and take a walk. I have had a lot of people tell me this is Paradise..That may be true until you have to make a 25 mile trip to get groceries :) But we don't have anyone bother us and the dogs love it here. Lots of Birds...Rabbits..squirrels and even saw some deer out in the corn today but couldn't get a picture because it was hiding behind the corn. They have planted Sweet Corn..popcorn..Indian corn ..pumpkins and watermelon and we can help ourselves. Fred even brought us some zucchini squash today.
Hope you enjoyed the little tour. I will post pictures of the new Flower Bed's that Billy made as soon as I can :)

Hi Nancy :) Well, you and your hubby have really been working to fix the property up to look pretty. I love the way you've put the trellis around the flag. That's really gonna look sweet when your clematis blooms.
I love sweet corn. That's nice that you can get ya some to cook.
Aww, I've always liked that little rhyme. It's sweet as a sampler. Lucky you :)
