A NEW EXPERENCE AND FUN

My friend Joann came down from up North (240 miles) on Monday night and we spent all day Tuesday and Wed until about 4 P M printing fabric and trying different techniques, These are just some of the samples we made to see how different things work. We used paint pigment which is a lot more expensive that paints or dye. It will NOT come out or bleed. These are just a few of our supplies. We had such perfect weather...about 75 degrees and sun shining. Right after we put things away the wind started blowing and it started cooling off. Then when she left she hit rain all the way home and when she pulled in her driveway there was 1/2" of snow. Was that just a coincidence or do you think someone was watching over us and knew how far she drove.
We had a lot of fun trying different techniques and I still have about a dozen pieces of fabric that has to sit for 10 days and then has to be scrubbed. I will show that in another post. Below you will see just some of the things we did and they all look better in person than they do in the pictures.

we used all different kinds of tools and brushes

We even used salt and other images
I think this green one turned out pretty neat

And this one is really different

I kind of like this one too...love the way the colors blended

I keep trying to think of different things I could make with our samples

Some of them surprize you and are very different when done than what you thought they would be

This one kind of reminds me of a rainbow

What would you make with this piece?

This one was folded many times before painting..not sure if I like it a lot

I think this one is kind of unique

I guess you can tell I like the orange ones the most

I don't even remember what I did to this one but it is different

Please leave me a comment if you have time and tell me what you think and which one is your favorite if you have one.

Nancy, those are awesome! Looks like batik to me? I like the 1st & last ones the best. Can't wait to see what you make with them.

I too like the green one and the orange one...can't imagine what to do with them but they're sure pretty...a little like tie dying? sounds like you had alot of fun...

I agree with Lynn it looks like batik so you could mix squares of the dyed blocks with regular quilt fabric. Or make bagies to hold soap in. Or coasters. Looks like a lot of work,

Those are so neat and look like loads of fun! I love the purples and pinks. Flowers, Easter eggs and butterflies come to mind. Of course, a nice raggedy quilt runner would be nice for a springtime look! Just love them! ~~Annie

Hi Nancy:) That last photo looks like an Easter cross and Jesus' light above and behind.
The fifth one up looks like a bunny rabbit or an entity standing up and looking up to the sky. But, that's just my vision now isn't it:)
